Cricket vs. Love
Read that. It's perfect.
Indeed, Team India will never leave us. India will bear with us patiently as we hurl insults at them or take out our bad moods on them. And they'll quietly show us that they're worth our backing in the next match. The inconsistency drives us crazy. And yet it keeps us coming back to them. It keeps us guessing, keeps life interesting. If they were faultless and perfect, we'd get bored, that's how fickle we are. But the team is unquestioningly loyal.
Ever so often I have turned to cricket for comfort. Heartbreaks? Failed an exam? Stressed out with events and commitments? Don't eat comfort food. Watch cricket instead. Which is what I do. The best part is, it keeps your mind occupied for a minimum of three hours, an average of eight hours... but in some cases, up to -get this- FIVE DAYS. It's the perfect distraction. What's even better, it allows you to multitask because the intensity doesn't occupy you cognitively (unless it's T20 cricket).
Ever lived your life out according to tournament fixtures? I know I have. During major cricketing events, I plan my life according to the match schedule.
Heartbreaks have been quelled by watching Jammy and RP play. Think about it this way. Jammy will always be mine. And yours. And yours and yours and yours too. No matter how long or how many times over he may marry or how many kids he might have. OR however old he might get. Sharing is never a problem. :)
There's just so many positives to following a sport with passion, and especially so when the sport is cricket.
Gah. I love this game.
